(CINCINNATI, Ohio) — Logan Williams (Ole Miss) and Jake Geglein (Cincinnati) had impressive performances in Wednesday’s Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star Game, played at Western Hills High School in Cincinnati.

Williams started at third base and went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and an RBI. Geglein was the second pitcher for the “Blue” team, on which the four Cows representatives to the game played, and worked a one-two-three inning, striking out two and getting the third hitter on a pop-out.

Cory Kovanda (Ohio State) and Jacob Spaeth (Dayton) both came in in the fifth inning as defensive replacements and each went 0-for-1 at the plate.

Additionally, Geglein was honored Thursday as the GLSCL Pitcher of the Week, the first Cow this summer to pick up a weekly award. (DELAWARE, Ohio) — Tyler Wilson (Virginia) was perfect through 5 1/3 innings and allowed just two hits, but the Delaware Cows could not protect a 3-0 lead and fell 7-6 in ten innings Monday to the Columbus All-Americans at Littick Field.

Wilson worked a season-best six innings, tying a season-best with seven strikeouts. He retired the first 16 hitters he faced, yielding just a bloop single to right field and an infield single, but did not allow a run before exiting.

The Cows scored a pair of runs in the second, with Ed Jayjack (UNC-Greensboro) delivering a sac fly to score David Phillips (Texarkana), while an RBI basehit from Chris Bohannan (Louisiana Tech) brought home Tyler Burnett (Middle Tennessee).

Phillips hit a solo shot, his first of the season, to straightaway center in the third inning to stake the Cows to a 3-0 lead.

The game unraveled for Delaware in the eighth, though, as Columbus sent 10 hitters to the plate and scored six times. Four hits, two walks, an error and a wild pitch contributed to the turnaround.

But the Cows came right back in the bottom of the eighth, though, as the first four hitters reached on singles. Bohannan’s baseknock brought home Jayjack and Burnett, while later in the inning, Justin Riddell (Cincinnati) delivered a sac fly to center that scored Bohannan and tied the game at six.

After a scoreless ninth inning, Chris Lewis of the All-Americans hit a solo home run with two outs in the tenth that proved to be the winning margin.

Delaware pounded out a season-high 16 hits, compared to just eight for Columbus, but the Cows left 13 runners on base. Bohannan had four hits and three RBI, while Jamel Scott (Cincinnati) extended his hitting streak to six games with two hits. He’s batting 10-for-21 during the streak.

Wilson has now worked 12 consecutive scoreless innings, dating back over three starts, and now has recorded 32 strikeouts in just 24.2 innings pitched. He lowered his ERA to 1.46 on the summer.

The Cows (11-13-1) are off until Saturday due to the All-Star break. Delaware travels to play Anderson (Ind.) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.

DELAWARE- Jake Geglein (Cincinnati) worked five scoreless innings and Ben Thomas (Xavier) homered to propel the Delaware Cows to a 3-0 victory over the Lake Erie Monarchs, Sunday afternoon at Littick Field.

(CELINA, Ohio) — After taking the first game of a doubleheader 4-3, the Delaware Cows held a 1-0 lead going into the fifth of the second game against Grand Lake but couldn’t hold on, losing 4-2 and settling for a split against the host Mariners Saturday.

The Cows jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first game behind an RBI groundout from David Phillips (Texarkana) and a Grand Lake error, with Logan Williams (Ole Miss) and Tyler Burnett (Middle Tennessee) scoring. A solo shot by Brooks Hunton off Cows starter Jordan Nicholson (LSU) cut the lead in half in the fourth, but that would be the lone run Nicholson would allow over five innings on the mound.

Delaware tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the sixth, as Brian DeLucia (Ohio State) doubled and his Buckeye teammate Cory Kovanda walked to start the frame. DeLucia scored on Williams’ RBI hit, and Kovanda came in to score on a wild pitch to put the Cows ahead 4-1.

Grand Lake answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 4-3 game, but Nick Karow (Furman) pitched a perfect 1-2-3 seventh for his fifth save of the summer. The team record for saves is seven.

In the second game, the Cows jumped ahead early again, with Kovanda scoring in the first on a sacrifice fly from Williams.  The Mariners cracked the scoring column in the fifth after two walks to lead off the inning came around to score, putting Grand Lake in the lead 2-1.

The lead was short-lived, though, as Williams walked to start the sixth, went to third on a double Ben Thomas (Xavier) and scored on a wild pitch to knot it up. The Cows left two men on base, though, and Grand Lake came back with two more runs in the bottom of the inning to gain a 4-2 lead.

In the seventh, Delaware loaded the bases with one out but failed to score.
